I started teaching Lifesaving first at Blackpool & Fylde Tech College in the 80’s where I studied my A levels and BTEC Leisure Studies.
Taught Lifesaving and swimming at Leeds Becket University in the 80’s after moving from Lancashire to go to university.
I have taught in many private swimming schools, Leeds City council, Bradford University, Bradford City Council and became the swim manager of Virgin action.
Taught babies, children, all levels of adults, coaching competitive swimming, and Triathlon.
This I have accomplished raising 2 boys, one of whom has autism whilst running a manufacturing company and then working in accounting and management.
My sons were different swimmers. Both were taught by myself from 3 months old, until they stopped listening at 9 and I sent them to lessons to finish off their qualifications! One hated water for many years and the other was swimming before he could walk!
What was important was getting them in the water early to enjoy the benefits that water can offer.
One son is behind the scenes running this business and is a qualified swim teacher and scuba diver. I like to work him hard!!
I competed in Triathlon to a reasonable level and have been involved with teaching many sports over the years like: American football, rugby, hockey, spin, gym.
