CHILDREN’S SWIMMING
These will follow Swim England qualifications from the early Duckling all the way to challenge and Honours.
If your child has started the STA awards scheme, I can follow on from this – just let me know what you wish for your child.
They will incorporate all water safety awards and RLSS Rookie lifesaving awards to ensure your child is educated not only in how to swim but what to do in an emergency for themselves and others in or near the water.
All children’s early years in the water, will be taught by play and will learn to float, scull, kick front and back, put their face in the water, glide and stand up whilst having fun in the water.

The early years are usually done in parent and child classes whilst children get used to the water with their carer in a fun environment whilst learning to concentrate and take instruction.
These skills are the most important in swimming and are a pre – cursor to how to swim correctly in classes with just the teacher.
Small classes for children who are just starting without their parent in the water allows safety and plenty of time for each time to be taught individually in a group.
If there are too many in a class some children will not get the time they deserve.
As children progress they can then go into classes of 5-6 where their skills will develop as they pass their swimming qualifications, and they will have a great swimming style and be safer in the water.

Some children take more time at certain ages than others.
It is hard as a parent not to take notice of government standards of ’children should be at a certain stage at a certain age’ mentality.
Children learn in their own time and will all catch up at some point. There is no right and wrong.
As parents we must be patient and accept we are all different and the differences are what makes us great.
